London Day 4, It's a Trap!

So, halfway through the week and no break in sight. Once again it was time to get up early in the morning and head to class. After a slightly delayed coffee stop it was a mad dash to class where we would meet Vanessa, one of the puppeteers from the show War Horse we had seen the night before.
She talked to us about her experiences learning how to work in a team, and how the puppeteer and and puppet must learn to become one in an epic cosmic fashion. I kept having brief flashes of my possible future as a puppeteer. After some hilarious attempts at making horse noises, and somewhat goofy moments with balloon horse heads, it was time for Vanessa to head off and for us to head to the Museum of London. I was really glad she was able to visit, it was really interesting to get so much insight into being a puppeteer and to hear about just how complicated and difficult it really is. It takes so much concentration and total commitment.

Then we were off to the Museum of London. We had a great tour that was really informational. It was really interesting to learn the history of the city in which we were staying. It really made me look at my surroundings in a new light. Man England has had one rough history, fires fires and more fires, not to mention you know that little plague thing that went around. It made me have a new appreciation for the English people and nation and how resilient they must have been to not only survive all the horrific tragedies but also grow to become one of the most powerful nations. Queen Elizabeth man, what a lady. There were a ton of fun rooms to explore and probably my favorite was the room containing all the outfits worn in Pleasure Gardens. They were just so wild, I promptly feel in love with a particular navy blue dress with a celestial pattern paired with antlers. So many of the outfits were so strangely modern or at least very Lady Gaga-esque.

After the museum of London we technically had the day off. But not the trifecta! we didn't do nights off! We had our own plans. After a delightful dinner it was off to my favorite show of the trip, a pleasantly surprising awesome adventure at Deathtrap!

I had no preconceived notions about Deathtrap because I honestly had never heard of it before. I was just excited to see another show. We ended up getting AMAZING seats. They were first row of the first balcony right in the center. They were by far the best seats we had the entire trip. So at that point I was really just excited for the seats.
But then it began! It started out a bit slow, but I really loved the story and just the cleverness of it. I just loved how it really got me to jump when it was supposed to, and really had me guessing what came next. I was totally into it. It might have been partially because it was the first show I was not required to analyze that I just let myself be a normal audience member and enjoy it thoroughly!
The acting was amazing and we were lucky enough to meet Jonathan Braff after wards and he was really charming. We had a nice conversation and it seemed like he really genuinely enjoyed talking to us and wasn't just trying to escape. Also he was wearing a great hat. After a great show and a great day it was time for bed and then DAY 5!
